Top UK 90s Films

We’ve covered a lot of topics in the past weeks, and it is interesting to note that when we discuss films we rarely cover the 1990s. There’s a reasonable explanation for that, films from the 1990s are neither retro nor new and contemporary. However, there were quite a few iconic UK films in the 1990s and we are going to go through some of them. Some of these films served as inspiration for slot developers. You can check some of these film-inspired slots on and see how you like them.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

In a way, the 1990s were marked by Hugh Grant and his films, so it is hardly surprising that this list starts with one of his films. The film is a romantic comedy, but that pretty much goes without saying. In addition to Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas, James Fleet, David Bower and Rowan Atkinson also feature in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The film was made on a pretty small budget, it cost under £3 million and the filming was done month and a half. The film’s success came unexpectedly. Four Weddings and a Funeral was released in 1994 and at the time it became the highest grossing British films. Four Weddings and a Funeral was named 23rd best UK film in the 20th century. Time Out magazine also rated it among the top 100 British films.

Another comedy, albeit a dark one, Trainspotting was released in 1996 and became an immediate hit. The action is set in Scotland and it tells the story of heroin addicts who live in a poorer part of Edinburgh. The film has been named the top Scottish film of all times. Trainspotting was also filmed on a lower budget, it was made with just £1.5 million.

The film features more than few iconic scenes, including several occasions where one of the main characters goes through a withdrawal crisis. Interestingly, even though the action is set in Edinburgh, most of the action was filmed in Glasgow. Trainspotting is one of the few films that accurately and realistically depicts youth culture. The sequel of Trainspotting, T2 Trainspotting was released in 2017.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

It appears that we have a pattern. All films on our list are comedies. This one is a crime comedy, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jason Fleming, Dexter Fletcher, Sting and of course, Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones.

The film tells the tale of three small criminals who end up indebted to a big-time mob boss Harry the Hatchet. Throughout the film the trio end up in a lot of comic situations, before being arrested and released at the end of the film. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was released in 1998. The making of this film cost even less than the two listed above, only £800,000. Statham who is a formed driver and Jones who is a former footballer made a name for themselves in the acting world with this film.

Top 3 Modern Vampire Movies

Vampires have been recorded in most cultures in the world but were predominant in the folk beliefs of the Balkans and Eastern Europe. They were considered beings that subsist by feeding off the vital force – the blood – of the living. With its beginnings in the 18th-century poetry, the vampire is now an inevitable element in popular culture. You can find them everywhere from movies, games, online slots – Slotswise – to cartoons. Today, it is considered one of the preeminent figures of horror films with vampire movies coming out almost every year. This is the reason why we have decided to compile a list of the Top 3 Modern Vampire Movies. The list goes as follows:

  • Let The Right One In (2008)

When it comes to vampire popularity, there is no doubt that 2008 was the “year of the vampire”. True Blood debuted on HBO and Twilight was on the rise, but the greatest vampire-themed movie of the year didn’t come from Hollywood, but from Sweden.

Let The Right One In is based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist that tells the story of a young bullied boy, Oskar, who lives with his single mother in an apartment complex in 1980s Stockholm. When a mysterious pair of neighbours arrives to the building, an older gentleman with a young girl, Oskar befriends the girl. He soon discovers that his new friend, Elie, has been a little girl for a long, long time. The arrival of Elie and her mysterious companion coincides with a string of murders in the town, as Elie’s elder caretaker is killing people to drain them of blood for her to consume.

  • Interview With The Vampire (1994)

Interview With The Vampire tells the story of an 18th-century plantation owner in Louisiana who gets turned into a vampire by the vampire Lestat. Together they turn a little girl, Claudia, who is dying, into their vampiric daughter. The movie follows them through two centuries, from New Orleans until the modern times. The director, Neil Jordan cast Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and young Kirsten Dunst for the main roles. The role of Claudia gave Dunst her career-making performance. Interview with the Vampire can be considered the vampire movie as a historical epic, and in that regard, no one has even come close to it since.

  • Only Lovers Left Alive (2014)

When it comes to the writer/director Jim Jarmusch, it is more than certain that he’s made a lot of oddball movies during his filming career. However, maybe his most emotionally accessible film is Only Lovers Left Alive which tells the story of two ancient vampire lovers. The plot of the movie is very light, but the two main characters are so charming that makes you want to be in their company forever.

The married vampire couple, Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton) live across the world from one another despite having been together for almost hundreds of years. Adam lives in an abandoned neighbourhood in Detroit creating music and avoiding almost all human contact and starts contemplating suicide. Eve flies over from her home in Tangiers to be with him and help him break out from his intentions. Everything is OK until Eve’s annoying sister arrives and makes everything a mess.

Best Revenge Movies

It isn’t at all strange that there exists a subgenre of movies that deal with the subject of revenge. There is quite a number of revenge movies and they all follow the same theme. Some bad guys have done wrong to a righteous guy, and now he wants to revenge the hell out of that wrong, whatever it might have been. Usually, the good guy (turned bad) revenges his (or her) best buddy or a family member. The plot is a straightforward course of collision with the antagonists, but let’s not judge the fact that the plots of these movies develop along the same lines, more or less. Revenge movies are intended to deliver action, punches and few killings without the flinch of an eye. Without further ado, here are three movies that define the genre and have become a cult classic.

Man on Fire

Released in 2004, it had a solid run in the movie theatres, grossing $130.30 million. Even though it received mixed reviews and ratings from movie critics, it became a home-video favourite and sold a large number of copies on DVD and Blu Ray.

This revenge movie was directed by Tony Scott. It features Denzel Washington and the kidnapped daughter (Dakota Fanning) of a money mogul played by Marc Anthony, who paid Creasy (Washington) to deliver her safely from the kidnappers. Creasy has multiple run-ins with members of the Mexican cartel, as well as with corrupt civil servants. Spoiler alert – Creasy, who is an alcoholic and bereft by personal woes, trades himself in for Lupita but wreaks havoc on the bad guys, including an attack with a bazooka.

This low-budget film scored big both at the Academy Awards and in the box office. Having spent just $9 million, the production company earned a total of $39.70 million and received numerous accolades throughout the world at numerous film festivals. Memento has been deemed “significant” by the US Library of Congress and was preserved in the National Film Registry.

The movie features Leonard, who is only able to remember his name thanks to napkin notes and post-its that he keeps in his pocket, along with Polaroid photos and tattoos on his body. Leonard has sustained head trauma and is unable to store his memory. The only way to remember what had happened is for Leonard to consult with his notes and try to piece together a series of events that are as mysterious as is the reason for his deplorable condition. Enter Natalie, who becomes involved with Leonard for reasons that are seemingly benign, possibly out of pity and unbloomed maternal instincts, but proceed to reveal ulterior motives. There is also Teddy, who is in on a deal gone bad that has resulted in a murder. This convoluted plot plays out and feels as if Leonard is out on a revenge to get the guy who’s gotten him this way.

Rocket Men

This isn’t quite a movie but it has to do with revenge. Thank god it didn’t happen because it features Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un and nuclear warheads, which are part of the Rocket Men slot released by Red Tiger Gaming, just in time before the world almost ended when Un was ready to respond with another nuclear test to the insults launched by Trump. This online slot is all about revenge and there have been rumours that the North Korea nuclear threat could become a movie in the “end of the world” genre. Meanwhile, to get an understanding of what this is all about, just check out Bingo Scanner and find the slot.

Best Film Stories In History

They often say that films nowadays are all about effects and how everything comes down to how much a studio is willing to invest in production. That is only partially true though because the plot is still important. You can add tremendous graphics and visual effects to a terrible film, it’ll still be terrible. In fact, great effects can make things even worse if the storyline is bad.

Good films with a solid plot are eternal and people gladly watch movies that have been filmed and produced decades ago only if they have a great story and they tend to forget recent releases that might have a lot better effects, but whose stories are quite lame.

In this article, we’re going to present you some of the best film stories in history.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

A film based on a rather amusing premise – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tells the story of a young couple who break things off, but they don’t stop there, instead they decide to go through clinical procedures that will erase them from each other’s memory. The film makes you wonder and ask yourself a lot of questions. Will such thing be possible in the future? Would you choose to do this, if it was an option? If you still haven’t seen it, we definitely recommend it.

Black Swan

A dark psycho-horror that tells the story of a very talented dancer played by Natalie Portman who is playing a lead in Tchaikovsky’s famous Swan Lake. The main character is actually struggling with her mental health after she finds herself in competition with the black swan, the other main character played by Mila Kunis.

Many critics have seen the metaphorical meaning of this movie and it is clear that this a very deep work of art, with plenty of levels. We wouldn’t recommend reading critics and analyses of the film before watching it though, because they might influence the way you see it.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

A classic western from 1962, this film is a true testament to the fact that it doesn’t matter when a film was shot and released, as long as the story is good. The good story is what makes people watch The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance more than 55 years after it was released. Many film critics would go as far as to claim that it is not only the best John Ford film but perhaps one of the top five films of all time.

The story starts when a senator travels with his wife from Washington to the wild west to attend a funeral of a local hero. With a flashback, the viewers are taken 25 years back when the senator was still a young attorney. We wouldn’t go further into the story just in case you haven’t seen this great film yet.

The same principle applies to slot games, it doesn’t matter when a game was released, it can still be very amusing. Check where you can find some of the best online slots, both newly released ones, and older classic games.

Top Films In 2018

In the last few weeks we’ve talked about TV series, both old and new ones, successful and unsuccessful ones and we have concluded that we’re currently living in the decade of the series and that series have been more popular then ever. Until 15 years ago nobody would’ve assumed that some of the top actors would star in series, but nowadays that’s hardly surprising.

Still, even though series are massive today and some of them attract greater audience than many films, people are still making and watching films and in 2018 we can expect some amazing film releases. Quite a few great films have already been released, mind you.

Now, we’ll have a look at some of the best films of 2018, including both titles that have been released and once that are yet to be released.

Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War was released in April and it is currently the most successful film this year with gross profits of over $2 billion. Avengers was produced by Disney and it continues the story of its prequels. Some of the greatest actors of today star in the Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mike Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch and a lot more.

Black Panther

Black Panther is another Marvel themed film that was released this year and it follows the story of the character of the same name. This film had its premier towards the end of January and it is currently the second highest grossing film this year and the ninth highest grossing film of all times. That’s pretty impressive and many believe that the great story will bring this Disney production at least one or two Oscars this year. Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o are the stars.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

This film had its premiere in Spain and is yet to be released in the US but considering all the hype and the success of the previous Jurassic films, have no doubts that Fallen Kingdom will be not only one of the best films in the Jura series, but also one of the greatest films this year.

The Fallen Kingdom was filmed in the UK and Hawaii. It becomes a bit of a pattern, but it is appears that sequels to previous successful titles are the top and most awaited films this year.

This is a rather surprising choice, but we opted to present you something a little bit different. This film, staring Keira Knightley and Dominic West is based on the life of a French novelist named Colette. The film will be released in September and we don’t want to tell you anything more about it, because we hope that you will want to watch it. It is an exciting drama, quite refreshing and different from the films we are used to.

Top Series In 2018

In the previous weeks we’ve discussed some great and not so great series from the past. But, it is fair to say that the past few years have been the best for series and there is a proliferation of new and exciting titles. Many of the series last only a season and some don’t survive even the first few episodes due to bad ratings. But that’s only because there are so many series and the days still last only 24 hours, there’s only so much you could watch.

Now we’ll have a look at some of the hottest series that are airing in the current year (2018). Some of them are still in their first season and we’re yet to see how long they’ll last, whereas other series have been or air for a year or two already.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story

It is pretty obvious what this story is based on, it is right there in the title. Throughout the series we follow the lives of Gianni and his sister Donatella, played by Penelope Cruz, but also his lover and murderer, a psychopath with serious mental problems. The series bears a lot of resemblance to American Psycho, so if you’re a fan you’ll definitely love The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Patrick Melrose

To be precise, Patrick Melrose is more of a mini-series, but it is definitely a great success, featuring amazing Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of a middle-class English heroin addict. His performance throughout all five episodes is astonishing and here he proves once again why he’s one of the top actors of today.

Dear White People

This Netflix show is running for a second season. Racial tensions are the central theme of the series, but this is not your standard ghetto story. Dear White People is set in an Ivy League school where black students struggle to improve their position in their environment and society. Through various interesting and explosive situations, the story develops further as we see our favourite characters from the first session getting more mature and more experienced.

Titans is not yet released, but it will be out this year. Based on DC Comics, these series will definitely be enjoyed by all who liked the animated Teen Titans.

Jessica Jones

This one is for Marvel fans. Jessica Jones, the superheroine crime fighter played by the Krysten Ritter. The first season was very successful, but the second is expected to be even more enticing. The star of the show announced that the story will get a lot more personal in the second season.

This show was also continued for a second season after a long break. The action takes place in Atlanta and the main characters are two cousins who are trying to become successful rappers. The first season won many awards and after a two and a half year break the series returns.

Nobody could’ve imagined successful film actors starring in series about 10 or 15 years ago, just like we didn’t think that online slots will become more popular than conventional land-based games. If you’re into slots, check Secret Slots.

Really Good Two Season Series

The world knows quite few television series that have only lasted for few seasons, but have made a lasting impression on their audiences. We may never find out the reasons why these shows were given the ax or simply fizzled out due to story limitation or actors’ failure to build synergy. Whatever the case may be, these shows have not been extended and their fans have been left looking for answers and hoping that someday there will be more. Let’s mention few of those shows. If you aren’t familiar with them you might even find them appealing and look them up.

The show only lasted two seasons and won praise from the audience – at least from those who were watching it. The show was so decent that its lead actress Laura Dern won the 2012 Golden Globe Award for best actress in a television series. Despite that, in the financially cruel world of American television series low ratings are low ratings and any show will get cancelled. Enlightened is about a “woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown,” according to its tagline. Following a host of subsequent disappointments in life, Amy Jellicoe goes to a spiritual retreat and comes back refreshed and with a new perspective on life. While her old habits and self-destructive temper have not been thoroughly expunged, Jellicoe tries her best to help her ex husband get back on track in his own life.

Freaks and Geeks

This is one of the best television series that catered to the teen and adolescent audiences. Technically, it is a one-season show, and shouldn’t be on the list, but that makes it even more appealing because in that one season, Freaks and Geeks managed to win the hearts of millions of viewers. The plot is set in a Detroit suburb and follows a cast of characters, who owing to their style and preferences (in music, attire, mood, etc.), are classified as freaks or geeks. The show makes it apparent how thin the line between the various clicks is, as some of the characters cross show both freaks and geeks tendencies. Freaks and Geeks featured now famous actors such as James Franco, Seth Rogen, Linda Cardellini and Jason Segel. It’s hard to tell whether the show propelled them to the spotlight and subsequent acting arrangement, but the show did make a splash. Unfortunately, it was cancelled only because it couldn’t get a better schedule that would avail it to its targeted audience.

The show is a remake of the 1973 film with the same title and pretty much a similar premise. The 2016 remake features a theme park that is inhabited by androids that are fitted with an impeccable cognitive reasoning that enables them to interact as real human beings between each other and with flesh-and-blood human beings. The latter are present in Westworld in pursuit of a life’s adventure, having paid lots of money to be able to interact with the androids in whatever way they want. The plot of Westworld is that the theme park has a story-line of its own, which is not fixed, and can take many different twists and turns, including saloon fights, online gambling at and much more. The Westworld remake had one season, to the audience’s critical acclaim, and will include another season in 2018, which makes it a two-season series. We believe that it will stop at the second season, because, what will there be once the robots have woken up, a robot takeover and an ensuing apocalypse?

British Remakes of American Series

Last week we went through some American remakes of UK series, including successful and unsuccessful stories, but, there are quite a few instances of the opposite – that is, US TV series that were remade and adapted for the UK market. Some of these were actual remakes, where pretty much most of the story matched, with the exception of the place names and some cultural references, whereas other are UK series that have simply been inspired by US shows.

Married for Life

Married with Children is considered to be a pretty iconic TV show, with viewers all over the world. Al Bundy and his wife Peggy became common place in modern pop culture. By the time the show ended in 1997 it was already broadcast on a number of networks outside the US. Remakes were released for several markets, and one of the first countries where a remake was released was the UK.

The UK version of Married with Children was titled Married for Life and the first episode went live in 1996, only a year before the original show ended. However, it appeared that the UK audience was already familiar with the original and they couldn’t accept the UK adaptation as easily, so Married for Life was cancelled only after seven episodes.

The Upper Hand

Unlike our previous example, The Upper Hand were quite a successful series, based on Who’s the Boss? In the UK version we witness the story of a widow (Caroline) who is bringing up her son in the countryside. Her mother than hires Charlie, a former footballer who has suffered an injury as a housekeeper, and throughout the series we see how Charlie and Caroline fall in love with each other.

One of the main things that differed the UK version from the American original was the fact that Caroline and Charlie ended up getting married, but that was probably the biggest mistake as the viewership’s interested dropped after this and the show was cancelled soon afterwards.

Days Like These

Days Like These is frequently called the worst UK sitcom. That is a bit strange considering that it is a quite literal adaptation of That 1970s Show, one of the top American sitcoms of all times. Many of the characters in Days Like These even had the same names as their American counterparts.

The main character was also Eric Foreman, but his father’s name was Ron. The foreign exchange student was called Torbjorn Rasmussen. The first six episodes were aired, and the show was cancelled afterwards.

As you can see, audiences can respond differently to different shows, and sometimes the remakes can be a true hit, whereas other times the original series have much greater success. It is still quite obvious that the cultural differences between the US and the UK sometimes make it impossible for certain references to be translated or adapted.

For instance, as we have mentioned, the approach to slots, casino gaming and betting in both countries is very different. Check for reviews of some of the best online slots.

American Remakes of British TV Series

TV series are have become a focal point of modern entertainment, and these days you will see some of the best actors playing in TV series, whereas only a decade ago that was unimaginable, and series were only seen as a stepping stone for actors who want to make a name for themselves.

Unlike films where there is only a short period for characters to develop and for the plot to reach its peak, in series, directors and screenwriters have room to experiment, build their story and develop their characters. The quote that US and UK are two countries separated by common language is usually attributed to George Bernard Shaw. You may or may not agree with that, but one thing is certain, the viewers in the US and the UK have different tastes and different expectations.

Here we have a look at a number of UK series that were remade in the states. Some were as successful as the originals, whereas others were utter failure. Either way, these shows are a vivid reminder and testament of how people, on each side of the Atlantic, have different tastes in cinema, even if they speak the same language.

The Office

Office is one of the successful stories, and even though the US and the UK version of this amazing show differ significantly, we have to say that both are actually quite good, and their popularity ratings can prove it.

Many would argue that the American version was more successful and more popular, since it went on for nine seasons, compared to the UK series which was only aired for two years. The UK version was written and directed by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais and Gervais also played the lead role, whereas the US version was developed by Greg Daniels. Both series are quite fun and watchable, so we’d definitely recommend you to watch them, if you haven’t already.

These TV series were absolutely butchered by the Americans. It is hard to even draw a comparison between the realistic, vibrant, lively UK version of Skins and the American watered down, outright censored version of the show. Many in the UK called it an abomination and they were quite right.

The UK version of Skins pained a much more realistic picture of teenage life, whereas the makers of the American show wanted to make it a bit more glamourous but ended up failing miserably.

Another iconic UK series which didn’t make it west. Some say it was due to bad casting, others claim that America already had Friends at the time when the US version of Coupling was about to be launched. Either way, it was no good and it got cancelled after just few shows.

House of Cards

This example is opposed of the previous two. The American version of House of Cards proved to be a right hit with the audience, so much so, that when somebody mentions House of Cards it is more likely that they are referring to the US remake, rather than the UK original.

Although the American version wasn’t as terrible as some of the other examples featured above, the American version of Shameless clearly lacked the charm and the genuineness of the UK original. In these series you can notice how different the UK urban life is from its American counterpart. For example, you’ll see that the British pub where the main character spends most of his time features slot machines, which are banned in American. Speaking of slot machines, check out

Epic Wild West Comedy Movies

The Wild West has been a source of inspiration for countless movies, as well as parodies of the Western movie genre. Naturally, these type of westerns are few far in between, but they exist and some of them are really good. We shall take a look at some of Epic Wild West Comedy Movies that have left an impression on moviegoers, and in the case of one particular movie, home-tv watchers. So let’s spur our high horses and head to the prairie to check out some western-themed comedy. We’ll let you be the judge whether any of the movies are epic wins or epic fails.

The Ridiculous 6

The film written by Adam Sandler features a slew a known actors and a bunch of other famous people who have their cameos. The film was made for the exclusive release on Netflix. The plot plays on an entanglement of bad blood and revenge, and greed, which is driven by a large pot of gold that has been hidden by Tommy’s (Sandler) purported biological father, Frank. Every single character in the film is an actor who has has his fair share of celebrity (Nolte, Trejo, Vanilla Ice, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, etc.), so the villains and the “heroes” are all met by and connected with ridiculous personas in the film.

It is interesting mentioning that Ridiculous 6 was dropped by three big studios before being picked up by the online streaming service Netflix. Even movie critics have given the film thumbs down, at the time it was featured, it is said Ridiculous 6 has gained more views than any other Netflix title in the period of 30 days. Regardless the controversy, the movie is a timeless wild west comedy that deserves to be seen.

The Wild Wild West

The Wild Wild West is a steampunk-esque western movie, owing the to the use of astoundingly out of place hydraulic machines. It features Will Smith, Kevin Kline and Salma Hayek in the lead roles. The setting is the American west in the years following the American Civil War, during which Captain West’s (Smith) family was murdered by a maniacal southern general McGrath. The movie is about revenging the murder and curbing the free-wheeling general, who has hydraulic warmaking contraptions of his own. A good part of the movie takes place on a train and has some gun fights, some falling in love, some mishaps and so on. Overall, The Wild Wild West delivers good entertainment, but it doesn’t take you on a thrilling ride, despite the train adventure. In fact, the trailer made an attempt to impose the movie as an action comedy, but it delivered few, week doses of the latter. Is this an epic wild west comedy movie, or is it an epic fail? Let’s not allow ourselves to be too harsh. The Wild Wild West can be your cup of movie night with friends.

Dear or Alive Slot

This here is one of the best Wild West online slots on the internet. It features a lone bounty hounter who is out to make some money catching bandits. The slot features free spins, bonus plays, wild symbols and a jackpot. We can’t say if the jackpot is an epic win or is it an epic win. You can find out at or precisely at any of our casinos to play for the big prize.

When Al Pacino Loses Himself in the Role

The best movies out there are those where the cast behaves as if it they are not in a movie, but a real thing. There are some movies that feel natural – like the plot is taking place right in front of your eyes – and when you start watching a movie like that, you just know it. This is thanks to the gel that bundles the different tissues that are formed by the actors, the script and the production crew. When these elements form a synergy the actors basically play one of their nuanced alter egos, making it seem as if the role had been scripted for the events taking place on the screen right then and there. So let’s take a look at Al Pacino, one of the best actors of all times, lose himself in the role that made couple of his movies one of the most famous that have ever come out of Hollywood.

Al Pacino in Scarface

Al Pacino is known for many of his roles, both on screen and on stage, however, one of the most memorable is his portrayal of Tony Montana in Scarface. Yes, Scarface. We know it is tacky to cite this as a good movie (it isn’t bad, it is just overly popular with the adolescent audience), but Pacino played the hell out of Toni Montana. Whenever Montana lost it, Al Pacino erupted with his own pent-up impressions of whatever thing makes him lose it. Screaming, shouting, shaking violently and shooting from pistols and automatic weapons while under the influence of the narcotics he is selling to powerful people. Tony Montana has anger, angst and passion which detonate under the pressure of the moments of danger and betrayal. Al Pacino really loses himself in this role, making Tony Montana a movie character who inspires young people to be and act tough, and perhaps more than that. But Tony Montana doesn’t go gambling on possibly because there wasn’t any online slots back then. So it is no small wonder that Tony Montana has been named the 27th Greatest Movie Character by Empire Magazine in 2008.

Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman

In Scent of a Woman Pacino plays Frank Slade, a blind army lieutenant who happens to enjoy responding impulsively to the sudden whims of resolve which occur as reactions to his own entanglements and relations with other people. Becoming immersed in the moral deliberations of certain events, Pacino, that is, Frank, goes off on a tangent a number of times and makes everybody around himself feel uncomfortable with the situation. This happens on numerous occasions, but the most memorable scene is when Frank unleashes an ardent speech in trying to defend Charlie in front of the faculty disciplinary committee. Frank raises eyebrows with Pacino being fully immersed in the role. Pacino won the Best Actor Academy Award and the film was nominated for a number awards. One line from his speech that strikes a sensitive cord, from among all other comparisons and character-building machinations of Frank, is the line “there is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit – the is no prosthetic for that.”

It features numerous high-quality video clips from the Oscar-winning film by Ridley Scott that take players directly to the centre of the Colosseum. Here, you can experience the life of the gladiators, just like Russell Crowe’s character Maximus Decimus Meridius, and win some of the games excellent payouts.

The most outstanding bonus feature in the game is the Colosseum bonus round which makes use of an interactive style found in a number of popular games. In this round, you can unlock different items, including free spins, multipliers, and additional wild and scatter symbols. If you want to see this in action, you can find the game at

  1. Iron Man

The release of every Marvel movie or TV series is an event for the fans of the company because they regularly set records. It all started with the Iron Man film, starring Robert Downey Jr., which introduced us to the world of Tony Stark. Each sequel to the film has got its own slot game following the story of the respective film.

In Iron Man 2 slot, you can find such characters on the reels as War Machine, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, and Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash. Iron Man 3 slot, on the other hand, uses the armours of Iron Man, War Machine, and Iron Patriot, among others.

  1. The Avengers

As with the previous two slots, The Avengers also uses characters and motifs from the popular Marvel film. Just as the film was full of Marvel superheroes, the slot comes packed with multiple progressive jackpots, including the one which is found in almost all Marvel online slots.

The game comes with three progressive jackpots that can easily amount to tens of thousands. Its bonus features can also get you some nice amounts in base gameplay, so you don’t need Lady Luck on your side to walk away with some prize.

  1. The Dark Knight Rises

Although some people will dispute Heath Ledger’s Joker as the best rendition of the role, there is no doubt that this film is one of the best and most loved. Following the success of the film, the online slot came about utilizing the film as a source material.

Probably the most impressive element of the game is its background, which usually shifts throughout Gotham City with each spin of the reel set.

  1. Fantastic Four 50 Lines

The last selection on our list is another slot game adaptation of a popular film franchise. Being an official slot game of the film and book franchise, it is designed to reproduce the universe of the film faithfully. The most prominent elements of the game are the reel symbols that represent various characters and elements from the movie.

Slot Games Based on Films

It may seem that there aren’t a lot of similarities between online slots and films (or movies as they’re known on the western side of the Atlantic), but you’ll be surprised to see how similar slots and films can actually be. Let us start with dynamism. Both slots and blockbuster movies are dynamic, and in most cases that’s what viewers and players are looking for. Nobody wants to watch a slow and dull film, and similarly, nobody wants to play a slow slot game that lacks dynamicity.

Moreover, slots and movies both rely and depend on graphics and sound effects, in both cases it is the visual and the sound effects that catch your attention and keep you tied to your seat. In the past several years it became possible to watch films and play slots on a mobile device, so you won’t have to be sitting which means that there’s no limit as to where and when you can play slots, or watch films.

Slot and Film Themes

So far, we discussed the external elements, so to say, as both the dynamicity and the effects aren’t part of the plot per se. However, slots and movies may follow the same plot, and may be based on the same theme. That’s actually quite common. There have been numerous slots which are based on successful and popular film titles and in many cases, film producers have given slot developers the green light to create slot games based on their movies.

There are few exceptions, of course, but in most cases, slots that are based on successful and popular films become successful and popular themselves. Often, slots are based on films that are based on comic books and it seems that both films fans and slots fans are also fans of comics.

Slot Games Based on Films

Here are some of the leading slot games based on films.

Planet of the Apes

The Planet of the Apes slot by NetEnt is one very innovative game based not on one, but on two films of the Planet of the Apes franchise. In this game you will notice that one half of the screen features symbols from the Rise of the Planet of the Apes, whereas the second half of the reels shows symbols and characters from the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Each half features five reels and three rows, so id we take both halves together, there are ten reels. The game has 20 paylines and can be played with a minimum of 20p.

King Kong

King Kong is one of the most iconic cinematographic stories, and the 1933 movie was remade in 2005 and we must admit that the remake was equally popular. In fact, it was so popular that a video slot was based on it. This Playtech slot features Wild Jungle Respins, Skull Island bonus and plenty of other exciting bonus modes.

Jurassic Park

Microgaming’s Jurassic Park is another slot game based on an iconic film with amazing visual effects and graphics. This game offers 243 ways to win and an RTP of 96.67%. So, if you like to explore various slots, both ones based on popular films, as well as games that feature a different theme, have a look at, you will find a lot of slot games there.

The bad and the worst, the sillies and the wackiest of them all can be collected in one place. Freedom Force

Old but Gold PC game that dates back from 2002. It’s a real-time superhero game where some of the people receive superpowers and are saving the world. Patriot City is attacked from villains and monsters and for a game that is from 2002 it holds pretty good.

The game inspired its own comic book that had six issues released later in 2005.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Rocksteady Studios did a fantastic job with Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Origins, but the Arkham Knight is the perfect one from all these. The graphics are top-notch and a special accent is put to the voice of the game. The players that already tried this game are all impressed with the voices and if you decide to go with this game, you will have a lovely time playing.

Marvel Heroes 2016

Everyone has been waiting for this game to come for a long time. Inspired by the comic books, with more than 100 characters available to explore the world with, this MMORPG is one of the best ones on the market so far. It brought back the Superheroes in video games talk, as it is released 2016.

LEGO Marvel Heroes

A funny game which is similar to Marvel Heroes (Basically the same, except everything is made out of LEGOs). The gameplay is the same as the Marvel Heroes 2016, but the objectives and goals are different.

Infamous: Second Son

The last one on our list is Infamous: Second Son, which was released in 2014 for PS4 and it’s perfect for the players that want to go deep in the game and just start wondering around the map, playing with the spells, and discovering what to do next. There is no one right way to finish the game and there is more than one goal. This is pretty fun to play and you will definitely have an amazing time while doing so.

Hollywood’s Best Paid Actors in 2017

Hollywood is known for the glam lifestyle, blockbuster movies and the actors who make them, who by the way earn millions of dollars per year. The funny thing about Hollywood is that nothing is cast in stone. Deals are made and broken and the list of millionaire celebrities changes as fast as they go in and out of rehab. So let’s take a look who were Hollywood’s Best Paid Actors in 2017.

Don’t Mess with the Sandler

Adam Sandler is known for his comedies. Some of these are total flops and some are awkwardly good. Whatever the case, Sandler always succeeds cashing-in on his movies because somehow people still go to see them even when they are just plain bad, or mediocre, like Little Nicky and Jack and Jill. Sandler is best known for his classics such as Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, 50 First Dates and Don’t Mess with the Zohan, as well as a litany of new recent movies that he seems to put out almost every consecutive year. So it is small wonder that his face appearing in a film will cost the money people $54.5 million dollars.

Riddick Earns Ridiculously

Vin Diesel is the man behind a bunch of high octane Hollywood blockbusters, some of which have become money-making franchises, such as the Fast and Furious series. Vin Diesel is not just an action movie hero. He’s also starred in comedies (The Pacifier) and a comedy-drama about the trial of a mob boss (Find me Guilty). He also acted in Saving Private Ryan which had won Spielberg the Academy Award for Best Director and earned the movie close to half a billion dollars. The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick, the sequel, also significantly contributed to his net worth. In 2017 a Vin Diesel was only $54.5M from the movie’s budget.

The Guy who Rocks Hollywood

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a Hollywood favorite. The always smiling guy and tough-guy badass is always found in excellent roles. He started his career as a wrestler and rose to popularity in the ring before becoming one of the best paid actors in the world. The Rock does voice overs for animated movies, comedies, as well as action movies. He is the co-star in the Fast and Furious franchise and has appeared in more than 15 high-grossing action movies. Some of the most popular of which are The Rundown, Walking Tall, San Andreas, G. I. Joe, Snitch, Skyscraper and more. Dwayne Johnson is respected in Hollywood, which is rare for that city where people gossip about one another and there are lots of personal animosities between celebrities. That doesn’t rub on The Rock. He plays his roles, makes his earnings and supports many charities and good causes. In all honesty, his $65 million dollars for a movie are well deserved and he deserves to go on being one of the best paid actors in Hollywood.

Some people make it lucky in Hollywood and some can win the Jackpot on a slot machine, say at one of the online casinos on

Cute Animal Movies

There are actions movies and horror movies and romantic romances and there are cute animal movies. There is an abundance of movies centered on a single animal or a bunch of different ones, so we want to select few that are really captivating thanks to their story-line and the main more-or-less cuddly protagonist.

Marley & Me

Features Marley the yellow Labrador retriever who is picked from a litter of his equally adorable brothers and sisters. Marley is adopted by John and Jenny, a lovely couple played by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, who move to Florida and get jobs at two competing newspapers. While Jenny’s job starts off on a good footing, John’s really doesn’t and much to his chagrin, he writes the obits and mundane news. However, when John gets the new assignment of writing about whatever gets his attention, he decides to start with Marley whose mishaps get the most adorable out of him. The movie revolves around John and Marley from there on and we get to see the canine swimming in his owners’ pool, humping a dog trainer, but also doing everything he can to relieve John and Jenny from the daily grind. In the end, Marley dies of old age and until the end he remains as adorable as when he was first introduced as a puppy.

Hachi: A Dog’s Tale

Hachi is based on a true story about a dog of the Japanese Akita Inu race. The story about Hachi starts when an American professor finds a lost puppy that has been sent to the US from Japan, towards an intended owner who could not be found. This is part of a story that is told in front of the classroom by the professor’s nephew, who had delighted in the bond that was formed by his grandfather and Hachi. The adorable Akita Inu walks with professor Parker to the train station where he was found day in and day out and waits for him in the same spot until he returns. One day the professor does not return to the train station but Hachi does not want to imagine the faith of his best friend. And even though the dog is given a new home, he escapes and returns to the station. This adorable story is about the faithfulness that dogs develop towards their owners, which in some cases is as unrelenting as in Hachi’s.

This movie is based on an American bestseller about an underdog racehorse during the Great Depression, which comes from behind and becomes a legend. Even though a thoroughbred colt, his smaller than usual size put him at a disadvantage, but Seabiscuit was also purposely mishandled by his previous trainers so that he loses races and leans the odds towards select few. When Seabiscuit’s owners can not find a jockey who would deal with his temper, the owner of the stable sees one in a hot-tempered boxer named Red. The jockey wins Seabiscuit’s trust and the horse rebounds and starts to build his winner’s spirit. However, before a major race, Red is injured and Seabiscuit is given a new jockey who learns a secret how to hand him and win the race. Seabiscuit was nominated for seven Academy awards and although it didn’t win any, it became a favorite among movie lovers because of the unique story about an underdog coming from behind.

Movies with adorable animals and stories centered on their fortunes are somewhat like slots machines with animal themes. There are many slots about cats, dogs, penguins and horses that are available on that can be played and won for their impressive prizes.

Best Gambling Movie Scenes Ever

Gambling, a vice of many a man and woman – but for some just a sport – has been a source of inspiration for a number of great Hollywood movies. There is a number of classic movies that convey the excitement, drama and release that is associated with gambling, regardless if it takes place in land-based casinos, at someone’s home or online. Here are three of the greatest gambling movie scenes ever.

The Gambler

The Gambler (2014) featuring Jim Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg, is about a literature professor who has an uncanny appetite for gambling. Jim gets into a money pickle because of his habit and reaches out to some dangerous people for more money. He also has good friends who become his frienemies because he has a tendency of siphoning out money from loan sharks. But because in every good movie there is “the girl,” there Amy Phillips, a student of his, who gives our gambler the much-needed support, but ends up as a bargaining chip in a bad trade-off with a loan shark. The twist comes when Jim coaxes a basketball player, Lamar, to underperform so that a wager can be won to the benefit of the loan shark. Even though The Gambler is more about an inflated real-life mix up of someone with a gambling addiction, the movie does have a thrilling gambling showdown that is one for the books. And that’s as far as we’re going to go with the spoilers.

Casino Royale

Casino Royale is a James Bond movie with a memorable gambling scene which involves high-stakes play that ends with in the near-fatal poisoning of Agent 007. That gambling scene sets off the action that will wrap up into one of the most memorable James Bond editions in the last two decades. In it, there is the intrigue of whether all the players are in it to win it or for some other reasons that have more complex ulterior motives working in the background. Upon his return from the dead, Agent 007 puts back on his poker face and poker goggles, and is able to read into the behavior of Le Chiffre. The scene unfolds with on the seat’s edge gambling action that has one of the players, confident of his hand or bluffing, go all in. This move is culminates in all players calling the bet and dumping their chips in the pot and waiting for the calls. Le Chiffre checks and raises, but Bond’s straight flush is the winning hand that takes the money.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Guy Ritchie’s 1998 near classic Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels has a gambling scene that results in a disaster for the movie’s lead protagonists. A poker battle has a twist due to one of the players being part of a cheeky cheating technique that is only possible with a hidden under the stairwell accomplice. The showdown ends in a major loss for Eddy that puts him and his friends in the worst of positions – they have a week to come up with a major sum of money to repay The Hatchett, a figure of the underground, who took his bar. This scene, that has an unlikely way of winning a poker game – basically defrauding one of the players of his money and his father’s club – begs to ask the question: are illegal poker games worth the bother when online casinos are becoming the norm. Furthermore, will we ever get to see a movie about slots that are played at the comfort of one’s own home? Well, there isn’t any movie material in that but it sure beats the odds at losing your money to your friends. So why not try and see if slots work better for you than poker.

Best free Sci-fi shorts on YouTube

Youtube was the first video platform that revolutionized how video is distributed and watched. Today there is a ton of free media content, including both feature-lenght and short films. Let us sift the diamonds from the pebbles and help you find the best free sci-fi shorts on the Internet.

Remnant is a beautifully made 5:40 short about mechanic golems, some of which are free-willed while others are manned by humans. These machines have left utter devastation behind their onslaught of a major city and now there are few of them lying in the ruins. Remnant’s protagonist is a lone man in his mid 20’s who has to move forward searching for energy that will fuel his golem exoskeleton. Directed and 3D-rendered by Andrew Wong, Remnant is a brief yet stunning sci-fi adventure well worth five minutes of your attention.

This four-minute short is the result of a graduation project of eight Savannah College of Art students. It features NO-A, an agile robot with a gorilla-like gait, who is the target of a troop of MOPP-suited mercenaries. NO-A is on a mission – he fights the soldiers in order to save a girl who seems to be of critical importance to the survival of humankind. NO-A receives a decisive head-shot that damages his locomotives but is able to carry out his mission to the end.

Tears of Steel

Everything starts on a somewhat funny note. A college couple is arguing over what lies ahead for their relationship. She is into robotics – and has a robotic arm, while he wants to explore outer space. This argument is actually a fragment in the memory of the boy and the girl, as is shown at a lab 40 years later in the future. Then the plot takes a sharp turn and there is nothing to see from the world inhabited by the couple. The world has become a total dystopia, albeit one that is mechanized and fully technological. When a chief director gives a go, the current reality is replaced by a holographic remnant of the protagonist’s memory. His mission is to reenact the argument with his girlfriend and change the course of the future. The rest is to be seen in an amazing plot twist and an even more awesome ending.

Rise takes place in a future where androids have become advanced. Too advanced. Sounds familiar? All the talk about robots becoming self-aware and potentially dangerous to humankind is epitomized in Rise. The film is about a recall to all anthropomorphic robots. An army general argues with a robot of genuine diplomatic skill, who doesn’t succeed in convincing his interlocutor that the human-robot relationship needs a restart. The twist in the plot comes when a device of devastating capabilities becomes activated. The rest is to be seen just few keystrokes away on Youtube.

Hobo with a Shotgun

Produced in 2011, Hobo with a Shotgun can hardly be listed as an 80’s Action Movie, but there was no reason not to use the 80’s format in this totally over the top bloodbath. If you don’t approve this, then you should take it up with Rutger Hauer. Hobo with a Shotgun had its beginnings as a mock trailer contest used for the promotion of the Tarantino/Rodriguez double feature of Grindhouse roll out. It was turned into a full-length film that surpassed Grindhouse and it is unique with its dark humour and gore. As soon as you see Rob Wells from Trailer Park Boys appearing in the initial scene, you are sure something special is in front of your eyes. By the time you get to the scene with the school bus full of kids, there is no doubt left in you that this is a movie that could offend literally everyone.

The setting of the Story

This movie is set in the small town of Hope, but there is little hope in this God-forsaken hellhole, a dystopian urban landscape violence, death and chaos. After witnessing neverending bullying, abuse, and brutal murder of the town’s unfortunate citizenry, the Hobo protagonist has had enough and he is going into vigilante mode! The Hobo enters into an unlikely alliance with a good-hearted prostitute and together they try to rally the townspeople to stand up against the tyranny of the town’s thugs.

Death Toll

In this movie, it is virtually impossible for you as a viewer to count the total number of violent deaths, much less the total number. This could definitely be considered one of the deadliest movies of all the 80’s Action Movies even though the movie is not an 80’s Action Movie. This doesn’t make any sense, just like the movie. Anyway, the total count of deaths in the movie is impossible to tell, due to the deaths of all of the homeless, but the total deaths attributed to the cast members is a solid 51. The Hobo himself kills 12 victims, including a paedophile Santa. We are going to conservatively estimate 125 deaths due to the long night of violence against the homeless.

Hobo with a Shotgun Overview

Hobo with a Shotgun is not a bad movie at all. It has a lot going for it before one frame is watched due to the title and the starring role of Rutger Hauer. The plot is weak and the ending disappointing, but this film is about style, not story. As you might imagine, Hauer carries the film and is perfect for the role of the craggy, derelict hobo. The strength of the movie, aside from the obvious performance of Hauer, is the use of bright Technicolor to put the spotlight on the carnage and gore. The final scene is a homage to Kubrick and Spielberg’s Flesh Fair in Artificial Intelligence and ends badly for most involved.

Best Video Games Based on Movies

Movies that are based on video games tend to be not that good, as well as vice versa. However, from time to time, exceptions occur which are instantly added to the list of best video games based on movies. Their rarity just makes the movie-based video games more enjoyable. This is not something new but goes back decades in the early ‘90s and continues to this day.

The transition from the silver screen to the PC or console seems to be easier than the other way around. To support this claim, we have prepared a list of 5 Best Video Games Based on Movies:

The first game on our list of Best Video Games Based on Movies is probably the best James Bond game ever made. It set the gold standard for all following multiplayer first-person shooters and influenced numerous imitators that tried, and failed, to replicate its gameplay. In this 1997 video game, the player takes the role of the 007 agent James Bond through a series of levels.

Disney’s Aladdin (Genesis)

In this delightfully colourful 1992 video game, kids were throwing apples and jumping from stall to stall in a Persian bazaar to re-enact the famous scenes from the Disney animated movie. There were two separate versions, one from Virgin Interactive and a Capcom release intended for the Super Nes. The lava level in the game, where you need to avoid big rolling boulders in a cave, is especially hard to play. This means that Aladdin game is also given a certain stealth-like twist.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The next movie-based video game on our list, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, is an on-rail shooter. In this game, you are playing the character of an Isla Sorna ranger who is part of the clean-up crew. During the gameplay, you must defend your vehicle from attacking dinosaurs and other threats. From the beginning to the end, you are often outnumbered, as most of your dinosaur enemies are grouped in packs. This game got kids pumping quarter after quarter into the game just to get a little further.

Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers & Return of The King

These two Lord of the Rings games were a lot of fun. The plot from the Fellowship of the Ring was also included in Two Towers and allowed you to play both as Legolas and Aragorn. Return of the King was an updated version of Two Towers, following the last film in the series. Return of the King allowed play of several characters, as well as a co-op gameplay. It featured interactive environments and the upgradable skills also made this game customisable to suit the individual play style of each player.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game

The action of the video game is set in 1991 and we get all the originals in a brand-new story, with the player added as a new recruit to the team. The design is flawless and trapping ghosts just couldn’t feel any better. You really need to work to capture the ghosts, but in the end, that’s a very rewarding experience.

When it comes to the relationship between videos and movies, it’s not all good however. There have of course been some video games on bad movies. These titles have taken inspiration on some truly terrible movies, but we’ll let you decide on whether or not the game itself is any good.

Famous Movies

Why don’t you gather and build model automobiles from famous films? In the automobiles of all comic book heroes which have made it into the big screen to all those renowned cars from children movies there’s a world of those movie automobiles available in model shape.

1 thing you need to decide is the ability level of the model car you want to assemble. It is good to want to build this large black car that has been from the caped crusader film, but if this model automobile far surpasses your ability level then you’re taking a huge chance on whether or not you can properly place it together. Odds are that you will find more model cars out there which are scales of the same vehicle but are a far more manageable ability level. You don’t wish to drop money on something that you might get such enjoyment from.

Another factor to think about is watching precisely which manufacturer you purchase your picture model from. Though a number of these makers do undergo the essential steps for licensing you will find many others which don’t. What they do will be to make a model that’s extremely similar but not precisely the same. The false producers can utilize a paint scheme that’s near the first too. They also will prevent using the right title of the film car so that they can hopefully pass them off within an acceptable facsimile. Now that you understand what to see for you will be more able to spot a fake.

The largest problem with purchasing a model of a famous movie automobile is that several times it represents the automobile in pristine condition. With just a little work, but it is possible to quickly customize your model to more closely resemble the automobile since it had been on your favourite scene. From adding damage to customizing the stickers and paint job that is 1 way to set your personal touch in your model. Another factor to think about is whether or not you would like to place your auto in a diorama. This is a representation of a scene in the film where the automobile was featured.

Regardless of what film you’ve noticed that had a fantastic car inside you can just about bet that there’s a model on the market for that specific vehicle. All it takes is a little bit of hunting to find it and then patience to build it and then you’ll have a nice new model automobile for your own collection. Building dioramas may be the best way to showcase your picture model automobiles and may be fun to build also.

This report presents a few of their best; those who have stood the test of time.

No list of great Christmas films are complete without one of their largest Christmas stories ever told. The “Christmas Carol” was told in several films throughout time, but no telling has yet to match the one looking Alastair Sim from the 1951 classic “Scrooge”. Here is the story of a guy who hates everyone and everything and just cares about making a profit. But then 1 night three ghosts come to see him in his sleep and that he finally sees the error of his ways and becomes the very generous loving man on Earth. This one is still as fantastic now as it was over 50 decades back.

This superb story tells the story of Rudolph that, although he had been born different from another reindeer and can be shunned by society, he ends up being the person who saves Christmas out of a horrible blizzard. Your children are certain to love this one.

This rip roaring humor is about as off the wall because you are likely to get in Christmas time. The storyline is really easy. He’s his son at Christmas though. Calvin then proceeds to become the next Santa Claus. Corny? Maybe.

For lovers of the Charles Shultz personalities Charlie Brown and company, there’s always “A Charlie Brown Christmas” from 1965. There is actuallyn’t much of a plot except that the gang is hoping to place on a Christmas drama and discover an adequate tree, but the music is memorable, the classic lines which most of us know and love are there (“I have been kissed by a puppy. I’ve dog germs) and if you really get down to it, the significance of Christmas really will come out in this superb film when Linus eventually clarifies it to Charlie Brown. This is 1 film you do not wish to overlook.

And obviously no list could be complete without “It’s an excellent Life” from 1946. A man is given a opportunity to determine what the planet will be like had he never been born. Anybody who watches that film and is not in tears by the end does not have a heart. If you see just 1 picture at Christmas, this is the one to watch.
