Mrs Doubtfire (1993) is based on Mrsdame Doubtfire (1987) by Anne Fine. This movie is about Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams), who is a divorced father. He wants to spend more time with his kids, so that is why he makes a plan to be in their lives more. His exceptionally creative brother Frank (Harvey Fierstein) helps him create a mask that will help him look like an older woman from Britain. Then he goes to his ex-wife Miranda, played by Sally Field, and convincer her to hire him as a nanny. So, the character of Mrs Doubtfire is created. His kids and wife fall in love with this helpful old lady and they help him be a better parent. 


The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) is based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950) by C. S. Lewis. This movie takes place in London, during the World War II. Four brothers and sister are set in a country house in an English village to be kept safe and sound and out of the war. One day, one of the sisters Lucy finds a wardrobe that takes her to a magical place called Narnia. Even though at first no one believes the small Lucy, eventually they all go there and help the citizens get rid of the evil witch. 


Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies (1990) is based on Lord of the Flies (1954) by William Golding. This novel revolves around a group of kids, that get stranded on a secluded island. The boys are being transported to a safe place when their plane is attacked and they are left to look after themselves. During their stay, they discover a more savage like version of themselves. 


Apollo 13

Apollo 13 (1995) is based on Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13 (1994) by Jeffrey Kluger. This movie is about the four astronauts Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) that are on a lunar mission. At first, everything seems to be in perfect order. But unfortunately, they need to put their mission on hold, once an oxygen tank explodes. 


Sophie’s Choice

Sophie’s Choice (1982) is based on Sophie’s Choice (1979) by William Styron. This movie is about a young writer Stingo, played by Peter MacNicol, who moves to Brooklyn. He believes that the move will help him finish writing his novel. During his stay, he becomes really close to Sophie, played by Meryl Streep and her lover Nathan, who is played by Kevin Kline. On one occasion, he learns that Sophie is a survivor from the Holocoast. She is constantly being hunted by her tragic life at Auschwitz.
